
Haute couture, custom coifs and well-applied cosmetics have catapulted ’80s supergroup, Duran Duran, into the rock and roll style hall of fame.
recently caught up with the Duran boys while they were in Toronto to promote their latest CD, Medazzaland and were honored guests at an ultra-hip soirée and fashion show, held at the trendy clothing boutique F/X. Once fashionably flamboyant, Duran founder, Nick Rhodes, says the band has now refined their image.
“We have moved towards a more polished look, with clean, tailored suits,” Rhodes explains-a style he, personally, always favored.
A haircolor chameleon who’s sported every hue from red, to black and silver, Rhodes’ current strawberry-blond shade-as always-was professionally done and meticulously maintained. At this point, he says the most shocking thing he could possibly do to his hair is dye it back to its natural brown-a shade the 35-year-old hasn’t seen since he was 16.
