Shorter hair does not mean just shorter length; it can also mean reducing the breadth. For example, if you want to have more shape in a jacket, you’ll take out the fabric from the waistline, not take the hem out. It’s the same with hair. The way to achieve that reduction is with the scissors-over-comb method, which is a prime technique for creating more shape. This method will save time and allow you to cut a versatile hairstyle with a delicate, feminine look.
When you work with your hands in hair there are usually three strokes: There’s combing, holding and then cutting the hair. With scissors-over-comb, there are only two strokes. The first stroke combines combing and holding the hair, and the second stroke is cutting the hair. By eliminating one of the three strokes, you will reduce haircutting time by about one third.
