Jaclyn Smith and José Eber

The name that brings, to my mind, thoughts of amazing makeovers is José Eber, Hairdresser to the Stars. He starts with a woman that has a somewhat ordinary look and bring out her own natural beauty and unique style by creating a great cut and adding a splash of color. He has won nationwide acclaim with his on camera transformations on programs like Entertainment Tonight, Oprah, and Good Morning America, to name a few. You may have missed Mr. Eber during his short time out of the public eye. But, now he is stepping back into his role as beauty guru.

Each season José and his top stylists and colorists work to create collections to complement both the casual and couture fashions on runways across the world. The styles they foresee for Summer 2001 are feminine, easy care, and touchable with lots of shine.

To quote Mr. Eber:

” There is no one hairstyle or color that will work for every woman, but there is a look that is just right for you…. The overall goal is to not just be more beautiful but more confidant and comfortable with who you are.”

“This season’s lines are more blunt than in recent seasons and are accentuated with light layers that move.”

The color trends for this summer will be solid, all one color shades. He says streaks are out and pure shades of auburn, chestnut and pale blonde are in.

Above all shiny, sexy, healthy hair is the look to strive for. To maintain this, be aware that hair color, over drying and product buildup can all damage hair, but also the summer sun, heat and chlorine increase the risk. ” Instead of creating complicated styles, focus most of your attention on the care and conditioning of your hair.” Always wear a sunscreen created especially for hair, and condition your hair daily.

José Eber suggests liberally applying a leave in conditioner while at the beach or lying by the pool. Another suggestion is to apply a deep conditioner and wear it all day on fashionably twisted and pinned-up tresses.

Remember that hats and scarves are a must when you plan to spend extended time in the sun. Immediately after climbing out of the pool or ocean, rinse the chlorine or salt from your hair and don your fashionable cover up to prevent the dry, brittle and sun bleached summer hair.

With Mr. Eber’s tips on style and care, we can all spend these sultry summer days looking calm, cool and collected.
