Madonna-Material Girl gone Earth Mother-lets it all hang out with her latest scandal-dirty-blonde, undressed tresses.
The launch of Madonna’s latest musical release Ray of Light (Maverick/Warner) also heralds the coming of a new Madonna. Notorious for her chameleon-like changes, Madonna’s latest incarnation is the least adorned we’ve seen in her 15-year career. Grounded by daily yoga sessions and motherhood (daughter Lourdes is two in October), the queen of shock has slid into style serenity.
Gone are the platinum pincurls and glamorous, shoulder-skimming Evita locks. They’re replaced by long, wavy, uncoiffed tendrils, marked by unkempt roots. To complete her au naturel look, the Material One also tossed her trademark scarlet lipstick.
Recently in Toronto to meet with the press and fans during a one-hour “intimate and interactive” session on Citytv’s MuchMusic, Madonna sported little makeup, save a few tiny rhinestone’s expertly applied by makeup master Kevyn Aucoin to the inner corner of her baby blues, and soft, berry-stained lips.
