Can you really grow black hair long? First of all, I just want to answer some common misconceptions about black hair growth, many people still believe funny myths about black hair, let’s take a look at the facts…
1. All Black Women Have Short Curly Hair – True or False?
Geee, if I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard this expression I ‘ld be a RICH woman now. For all those who believe this it’s false! I’m a black woman (African American) and my afro hair is 20 inches long.
Some people might think that I’m an exception to the rule, but I’m not, I know many black women and children that have long black hair with flowing locks.
Black hair growth is possible if you know how to treat your hair right – look at me – I’m living proof. Having natural black curly hair can be adorable and amazing to have but it can also be a huge pain if you don’t treat it right.

2. All Black Women Wear Hair Extensions – True or False?
These days thousands of women (of all colours) wear hair extensions (even me) and it doesn’t mean that we have short hair, or that we can’t grow our hair long.
This black hair myth is false!
Many women wear hair extensions because it’s quick and easy to style (just get up and go). At the same time many women wear hair extensions because it protects the hair from chemicals in coloring and straightening. With hair extensions you can have any kind of hair style without damaging your hair.
At the same time it’s fair to say that some hair extension styles can help you grow long black hair fast. So, with proper care black women can have long curly hair, and short curly hair is just as beautiful too.
3. Black Hair Can’t Be Washed Everyday – True or False?
Black hair requires special attention when it comes to washing the hair. Because afro texture hair is dryer than European hair the nourishments can easily be lost if it’s washed every day. If you want to grow black hair long, you need to keep your scalp and hair healthy and clean, this means regular washing and applying special ointments. It’s true that natural black afro hair shouldn’t be washed everyday (unless your hair is relaxed.) However, black hair can be washed regularly up to 3 times a week depending on the condition.
